My name is S.V. Macías, most everyone calls me Es.
I am a personal technology instructor and freelancer. During the ’90′s and early naughts I wore many hats: Graphic Apprentice, Production Assistant, Project Manager, Art Director, Community Manager, etc. for a few technology start-ups.
Then tragedy struck. I was hit by a car during my bicycle commute to work. My back was severely broken and life forever changed. Recovery was not easy physically or emotionally but I made it.
So I decided to leave my previous career behind me and began bartending. First in San Francisco then Madrid, Laguna Beach, Las Vegas, with a final gig in Portland. All the while, paying attention to what was going on in the tech world through massive amounts of reading and correspondence with friends utilizing my laptop in every city I travelled.
But it was time to move on.
During a short stay back in the Bay Area I had the great fortune to meet some amazing folks focused on civil rights, protecting those with disabilities, the elderly, and the homeless. This reprogrammed my worldview and I began to help.
This blog is a reflection of that decision.
My goal is to help those in need by teaching them how to use these digital tools effectively in an increasingly complicated techno-present.
